This
web site reflects a personal passion for sharing my love of reading.
So many good books...so little time!
While my experience in Language Arts supports this
work, the ideas on these pages are not meant to be the advice of an
expert. Instead, please accept them as the sharing of ideas and favourite books with friends and colleagues by a fellow teacher and
parent.

Click
here for a brief personal
introduction.
The purpose of the
Literature Alive web
site is to promote the use of children's and young adult literature in the
classroom and in particular to celebrate the work of Canadian authors and
illustrators. The site includes books suggested
by teachers and parents ( plus my own personal favourites) as
well as recommendations from the Calgary Roman Catholic School District Language Arts
Departments Literature Selection Project (1997-99). These literature
lists contain both new and favourite older titles.
While it is impossible to include everyone's preferred
books, I will continue
to add those that inspire teacher or student passion. Please use the
e-mail link below to submit a potential book.
While the literature lists provide good
choices for school or personal libraries, there is much more to this site.
In particular a key focus for this site has
evolved from my ongoing search for links to author
sites and related sites that can
be used to support author studies or book studies.
Also, please take some time to explore the links on the
Useful Links and Odds & Ends pages.

Links to author home pages or fan pages
are added regularly. Please submit the Internet address for any author pages that have been
missed to: literari@litalive.ca |
